The Perfect Fall Elopement // Spanish Steps // Washington DC

My first thought when I first met Liz & Rob was, "Oh, my goodness, they are made for each other!!" And having had the privilege of documenting their beautiful elopement, I feel exactly the same, I love this couple so much!

When COVID-19 forced them to make the emotional decision to postpone their larger wedding celebration with friends and family, they remained committed to being married now.  So, we worked together to design a custom elopement that would be true to who they are and to their journey as a couple. On a late fall day filled with sunshine and love, Rob creatively draped a sheet between the front and back seats of their Honda CR-V, anxiously awaiting the arrival of his lovely bride -- he knew he didn't want to see her before she "walked down the aisle"! Together, they made their way to the Spanish Steps, a historic and simply beautiful location in Washington, DC. As the rest of the world seemed to fade from view, they exchanged vows and pledged their love to each other forever.

A (very fun) afternoon tour of their Kalorama neighborhood followed until the sun went down. From there, we moved onto another special spot in Petworth: Timber Pizza Co., where this cheese-loving couple shared their favorite pizza! Does it get any more perfect than this?! Liz's mom's thoughts upon learning about her daughter's decision to elope resonates completely with me: there is no perfect time to get married ... you just need to follow your heart to know when it's right for you!

I felt honored to be a part of Liz & Rob's day, especially as the only witness to their self-unifying ceremony, and sharing a day filled with love, joy, and laughter. I couldn't be happier for them. Congratulations, Liz & Rob!
